MOOC - RoboBase

RoboBase

RoboBase is the online preparation course for the Robotikum. It is organized as a MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) and consists of four learning units. These units introduce th participants to the basics of assistant robotics and deal with topics such as "What are humanoid robots?" or "How do humanoid robots work?"

This course also introduces students to the program Choregraphe, which is the central development environment for NAO robots, and thus provides all the basic knowledge required before the Robotikum is carried out. The Robotikum itself can then be performed in a flipped-classroom format by immediately getting started with the handling of the robots and their development process.

In order for RoboBase to be worked through step by step, we have developed digital badges to be acquired by the participants throughout the course to as corresponding incentives.
Currently, there are two variants of RoboBase for NAO Robots version V5: a pre-course for high school students (RoboBase.V5.01) and one for lower and middle school students (Robobase.V5.02).

In addition, we have several MOOCs for the NAO V6 robots, also called RoboBase, in two levels (for middle and high school students) and an abbreviated version plus the MOOC RoboTeach (in English), which is for university students. Starting in February, there will also be another course, RoboEdu, tailored for teachers.

The RoboBase MOOCs for NAO V5 run on the TH Lübeck's e-learning platform oncampus:

The remaining RoboBase courses can be found on oer-vlc.de. The platform is operated by the Virtual Linguistic Campus (VLC), under the direction of Prof. Dr. Handke, with the support of RTWH Aachen and hosted on their Moodle instance. To view a small course overview, please select "guest access" on the page.

All courses are free, and both platforms feature text and graphics as well as interactive videos to serve as many different reception channels as possible.
